The Peninsula Escape
Vanishing-edge concrete with raised spa
The brief
A waterfront family home on The Peninsula needed a pool that disappeared into Lake Norman from the main living room view - without compromising depth, swim length, or spa comfort.
The build
We engineered a perimeter-overflow shell with a vanishing edge facing west across the lake. The catch basin was sized for the ten-foot lake-side wind events that happen each fall. A raised spa with a sheer-descent spillway anchors the south end, framed in matching travertine coping.
Interior: PebbleSheen in Midnight Blue. Decking: silver travertine in a French pattern. Equipment is fully recessed behind a louvered cedar screen with rear access. Pentair IntelliCenter manages everything - pool, spa, lighting, fire bowls, and water features - from a single tablet interface.
Six gas fire bowls flank the lake-side coping, set on individual ignition with the rest of the system on automation. Lit at dusk they pull every eye away from the house and out toward the water.
"Rock Water built exactly what we drew on a napkin two years before. The vanishing edge is the first thing every guest sees - and the last thing they want to leave."
